Intricate Carved Candles
Those ornate multilayer candles are carved by an artist using a technique from the XVI century. The design style is baroque, but the colors are more modern and bright.
Natalia Burikov from Tel Aviv spend years perfecting this ancient and complex technique. The difficulty is not making the base candle, but working fast and precise before the wax hardens. This takes less than one hour and to create those intricate shapes the artist has to adjust the applied tension constantly. Soon the wax reaches a texture that makes those delicate cuts impossible.
When the candle is ready, it is covered with a layer of protective acrylic varnish. The artist never makes two identical candles – each piece is absolutely unique. These refined accessories are like a vase of colored glass – and just as perfectly complement any interior.
